A Note From the Board
The Record directors ask for your help
Dear Readers of The Hinesburg Record
On the front page of The Record’s website one day this week were stories about the CVU girls cross country team (winners again), the recent power outage in town (a car crashed into a utility pole), a special report on the proposed town budget increases for fire and police, a rundown on the Turkey Trot, an audio story of a local painter, library happenings and much more.
These are the types of locally reported stories essential to thriving communities that inform you about your neighbors, town government and everyday life in our town. Community engagement takes knowing what is going on.
This is a news organization whose work is done by community volunteers, some of whom accept small stipends for all their hard work.
We are writing to ask you to consider a donation to keep The Record strong and vibrant in 2026. Your gift is tax deductible – we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit – and your gift will help us strengthen the content we present to you in the coming year.
As you know, we’re ending the printed version of The Record. To meet this moment in time we are putting all our efforts into going all-digital through our website – hinesburgrecord.org – and our Monday morning newsletter, The Weekly Record. Already we have gained significant readership and visits to the site. Clearly you are appreciating our transition to more timely and vital news organization.
While this move was done mainly as a way to remain viable – and it will save us money – it also will dramatically reduce our ad revenue. Your help is needed more than ever as we strategize ways to provide you more.
Please take a moment to send in a donation to help us continue our work. You can see how to give by clicking the ‘Donate’ link at the top of the home page or by clicking hinesburgrecord.org/donate or by clicking the button below.
Thank you in advance. A news organization is only as good as the level of engagement of its readers.
Sincerely,
The Hinesburg Record Board of Directors
