We can celebrate the 4th of July without 20K of fireworks. A loud band where the community can gather, sing and dance with sparklers would accomplish the same thing, community and gratitude for our American Democracy.

Clicking buttons in the poll, has no result. 😕

Suggestion: Now is the perfect time to revisit the idea of fireworks altogether; there are many other ways to celebrate - which aren't as expensive, risky, injurious to some of us, etc.

Thanks for making the comment... re the poll, it should work unless you voted before.

Peace,

Hi, Geoff; nice to see you here.

"should", sure - but does not: I didn't vote before; I was logged in; there was no response to clicking the button. 😟

I also tried turning some browser _protections_ off, and still no dice.

I just retried, from a different device, and it did work - HOWEVER I would still ask that you please consider that whatever polling mechanism / service is used, it may be relying on non-standard (and therefore "brittle") browser features. Thx

Should is such a nice word ... and a favorite of people who deal with software. I can't explain why you couldn't vote. You, er, should have been able to.

The polling mechanism that we use is something that Substack offers and it's an internal widget that has, in the past, worked fine. We have gotten 49 responses...

By the way, I have no idea how you created this nice pink overlay!

thanks for commenting and alerting me that there may be a problem with the poll. I will watch it more closely next time. (And I will email you to see if it works for you!)

Take care,

Geoff
