Welcome to our new home
We hope you like The Hinesburg Record's new site which is on the Substack platform
Welcome Hinesburg residents and friends.
After many years of housing our news on another Web platform, we’ve decided to move here because it’s free, offers additional features — sound and video — and because it gives us far fewer headaches. And for a small band of volunteers, fewer headaches is a nice thing. So’s saving money.
We also see potential on this platform to raise money to sustain our operations. (We are a non-profit.)
If you have a subscription (and we brought all of you Newsletter subscribers over) you must log into your Substack account (or set one up) in order to be able to comment on the stories. A word about that process: confusing. All you need to do is create a username tied to your email. Skip the rest.
We have one word to guide your responses: RESPECT. If you show respect for your fellow citizens, for the government officials in town, for the people in the story, we should have no problems. Same holds true with Letters to the Editor; critiquing public officials is a time honored tradition, but please no accusations or pejoratives.
Another way to think about it: “How would I feel if this comment (letter) were about me?”
If you have NOT subscribed to the Monday Newsletter there are two ways to do it:
Press the SUBSCRIBE button in upper right. RE-WARNING: It’s a rather confusing. But just enter your email, but skip the rest until you are back at The Record home page. If you get really lost, just put @hinesburgrecord or Hinesburg Record into search.
OR, send an email to Geoffrey Gevalt at information@hinesburgrecord.org and he’ll add you to the list.
As always, thank you for reading, thank you for participating and thank you for your support.
